Square Meal Project

Every Child • Healthy Food • Every Day

We all know that food is the most important school supply. Children cannot learn when they are hungry and living a life without access to adequate nutrition.

I learned about chronic childhood hunger when I was in kindergarten and my best friend received a different food tray in the cafeteria. She was on free and reduced lunch and her family was struggling to put food on the table.

Since that day, I have been working to end chronic childhood hunger in my community. At 8, I  put a name to my campaign - the Square Meal Project.

The Square Meal Project is a  501(c)(3) non-profit that works to end childhood hunger in America where 18 million children experience food insecurity in 2020. We encourage young volunteers - you are never too young, or too old to make a difference!

ADVOCATE

and

RAISE AWARENESS

Learn about hunger in your community and share those facts with those around you. Reverse negative stereotypes about people who need access to daily nutrition. Learn how your local, state and national representatives are addressing hunger.

FEED
and
TEACH

Volunteering to work in the kitchen at local shelters and organizations that prepre meals is a great way to help. Work with your local pantry to help fill their shelves. ASK what THEY need, and then ask your followers to help fill the need. Explore Cooking Matters and Choose My Plate for resources and recipes on cooking healthy on a budget.

FUNdraise

and

INSPIRE

Bake sales, lemonade stands, make bracelets, or sell cookie dough! Whatever you do to FUNdraise should be fun! Be sure you know the facts about hunger in your community so you can share with your supporters. Invite others to join in - and inspire them to help! Together WE ARE THE GENERATION THAT WILL END HUNGER!

"Charity should be about the liberation of the receiver."
